Alpine Meadows on Two Wheels

Whether you brought a helmet or not, fantastic biking for all comers awaits.

If flat and peaceful is your jam, rent a cruiser from Truckee River Bikes and head down the fantastic bike trail to Tahoe City. Just watch out for river tubers crossing the path!

If you want to bike with a view, head up to the top of S____ Valley Mountain Resort and join one of their E-Mountain Bike Tours. A must to book in advance, and requiring a beautiful tram ride up to enjoy the lake views from High Camp.

For the Adrenaline Junkies: Tahoe has world-class mountain biking trail systems, and mountain bike rental is available in the neighborhood at Truckee River Bikes as well as in Tahoe City and Truckee.

Oftentimes the best way to discover the trail for you is to ask the staff at your rental shop, we also love the Trailforks iPhone app.

One of the best (and most challenging) rides accessible from the house is to try to head to the top of Scott Peak. Head out the door of the house to your left, and bear right until you see a fire road with a metal gate. Head up that road, making a left as it terminates, and then bear right all the way up the mountain.

If you’re tossing your bike in your car and looking for easy mountain biking, you can’t beat the Emigrant Trail north of Truckee, near the Prosser Creek Reservoir.
