Summer Concerts in Tahoe

North Lake Tahoe is home to many talented local musicians, and the summer is an ideal time to get outside and enjoy the music. Throughout the summer, there are a number of concert series and festivals, and it varies a bit from year to year. You will see that there is quite a variety of styles and venues, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find something that suits your group!


Tuesdays

Bluesdays at the Olympic Valley

For fans of the blues, this is a can’t-miss weekly event. Now in its twelfth year, Bluesdays features a unique lineup, with different bands performing every week. The concerts take place in the central event plaza in the Olympic Valley, so it’s easy to find a spot to settle. Or if you’d rather, drift in and out of the bars and restaurants as you please.

Wednesdays

Music in the Park in Truckee

Every Wednesday, it’s time to head to Truckee and check out whoever’s playing this week in an eclectic lineup spanning funk, bluegrass, and jazz. And it wouldn’t be a summer concert series in Tahoe without a Creedance cover band! This family-friendly event is relaxing and easy to like. Bring a blanket and have your dinner as a picnic while you listen!

Fridays

Music on the Beach in King’s Beach

For 15 years running, locals and visitors know Fridays mean free concerts on the beach in King’s Beach. Varied and eclectic musical acts all summer long keep things fresh, and the event has an active Facebook page where you can learn more about the band this week. Local beer and wine are on offer, and local food vendors are on-site selling regional treats from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. No outside food or drink is allowed. No pets allowed.

Music at Northstar California

If King’s Beach isn’t your speed, there is another Friday night offering! Northstar has started to get in on the action with their own live music series on Fridays. Unfortunately, they don’t provide a lot of information online, but it’s usually worth a visit, especially if you’ve never been to Northstar.

Saturdays

SunSets Live Music Series in the Village

The Village’s Saturday nights have become very popular, and it’s easy to see why. Great musicians, a wide variety of dining and drinking in the Village, and the international renown of the resort make for a crowd that is extroverted, welcoming, and ready to mingle. In August, this event coincides with the Brews, Jazz, and Funk Fest, so keep an eye out and definitely plan to spend Saturday evening in the Village if you’re around for it.

Sundays

Concerts at Commons Beach

Sunday closes out the week with a family-friendly, chilled-out concert on the beach in Tahoe City. About ten minutes from the chalet, this concert series is just the place to unwind and relax before the week begins. Bring a picnic, a blanket, and beach chairs, and come early to hang out on the beach. Local vendors sell all kinds of food, drinks, sweets, and treats, including sushi, ice cream, and barbecue. There’s even a playground for the kids, making this a low-stress winddown that’s sure to please.

Malcolm Bowles

Malcolm is a San Francisco native who grew up spending winters in the Sierras, and he’s been hosting guests in North Lake Tahoe since 2021. For his ‘day job,’ he is a clinical social worker and teaches yoga and meditation. He spends winters in the mountains on skis or snowboarding, but in the summer, you’ll find him hiking, climbing, or stand-up paddleboarding. When he’s not in the mountains, he enjoys reading fiction, cooking, gardening, and unwinding with his partner, Often, and his cat, Xander.
